| The Service Branch of the Environmental Permits Division is responsible for the issuance of all media environmental permits for the SIC Codes listed in the table below. Common facilities in the list are hospitals, automotive related facilities, scrap and salvage facilities, textile and apparel manufacturing facilities, printing and publishing facilities, and dry cleaning facilities. The Branch also permits all cleanup sites covered under the Leaking Underground Storage Tanks program. |

Announcements The Permit Board on Environmental Quality reissued the Underground Storage Tank (UST) Groundwater Remediation General Permit on July 5, 2011. This general permit allows the discharge of remediated groundwater into State waters and/or into publicly owned treatment works (POTW) or wastewater authority systems. The previous general permit expired on February 28, 2011. Coverage recipients wishing to be covered under the reissued general permit must submit a Re-coverage Form within 30-days of the date of the Letter of Instruction. All facilities that currently have UST General Permit coverage should receive a Re-coverage Package containing the Letter of Instruction, Re-coverage Form, reissued General Permit, and Forms Package. MDEQ will mail all Re-coverage Packages by July 15, 2011.
