MDEQ Lifts Advisory for Browns Creek in Grenada

(JACKSON, Miss.) – The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) lifted a water contact advisory Wednesday that had been issued June 23 for a segment of Browns Creek in Grenada.

The advisory extended from between Wooded Drive and Westview Drive to its confluence with Batupan Bogue.

MDEQ advises that people can now engage in water contact such as swimming or wading and can consume fish or anything else taken from these waters. The advisory had been issued due to a bypass in the city’s wastewater collection system.
