Water Quality Management Planning – Section 604(b) Funds
Total for Mississippi: $350,000
To be used for Water Quality Planning and short-term contracts to improve the infrastructure of Surface Water Program
Deadlines:
1. Grant applications due within 30 days after funds are available for appropriation.
2. EPA expects to states to commit funds within six months.
3. EPA will require that 100% of these funds be expended within 30 months of enactment.
Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF)
Total for Mississippi: Approximately $35.3 million
Title VI capitalization (cap) grant to the State’s CWSRF Program, which provides low-interest loans to public entities for the construction, repair, or improvement of water pollution control facilities to benefit the environment, public health, the construction industry, and economic development throughout the State.
20 percent state match requirement waived.
At least 50 percent of Cap Grant must be used as loan subsidy.
At least 20 percent of Cap Grant must be used to fund green infrastructure, water and energy efficiency, or environmentally innovative projects.
Deadline: Construction contracts must be executed for all funds by February 17, 2010, or EPA must de-obligate remaining funds and re-obligate to other states.
Funding requests have been received for projects totaling more than $800 million.
