MDEQ LIFTS ADVISORY FOR SIMMONS BAYOU
(JACKSON, Miss.) – The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) lifted a temporary water contact advisory Wednesday issued August 5 for Simmons Bayou in Jackson County. The advisory was issued due to a sewage overflow from the Gulf Park Estates sewer system.
Monitoring by MDEQ staff shows bacteria levels in the bayou have returned to normal.
