MDEQ LIFTS WATER CONTACT CLOSURE FOR LOCATION IN LONG BEACH
(JACKSON, Miss.) -- The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), has lifted the water contact closure that was issued June 1 for a section of beach in the City of Long Beach. MDEQ sampling indicates bacteria levels are acceptable for water contact.
The section extended from South Seashore Avenue on the west to South Island View Avenue on the east. The closure was issued due to a sewer bypass discharging onto the beach near Lang Avenue.
To receive beach advisories directly, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org for inclusion in a public group email list or follow MDEQ on Twitter at http://twitter.com/#!/MDEQ.
