MDEQ LIFTS BEACH ADVISORY IN PASS CHRISTIAN
(JACKSON, Miss.) -- The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, has lifted an advisory previously issued April 8 for the following station:
● Station 5 -- near Lady Mary Avenue in Pass Christian.
The advisories on the following two stations were lifted April 12:
● Station 10 – U.S. Naval Home/Veterans Hospital near Oak Avenue in Gulfport -- from Alfonso Drive eastward to the VA Main Entrance;
● Station 10A -- near Courthouse Road west parking lot, Gulfport -- from the VA Main Entrance eastward to Courthouse Road.
Water samples show the areas have attained acceptable bacteria levels. The Gulf Coast Research Laboratory, which performs water sampling of the Mississippi Gulf Coast beaches for MDEQ, notifies the agency when an area returns to acceptable levels and safe conditions.
