MDEQ LIFTS BEACH ADVISORY

ADVISORY NOT RELATED TO GULF OIL SPILL

JACKSON, Miss.) -- The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, has lifted an advisory previously issued May 14 for the following station.  This advisory was not related to the Gulf oil spill. 

● Station 17 in Ocean Springs -- St. Andrews Beach near Main Street.
 
Water samples show the area has attained acceptable bacteria levels. The Gulf Coast Research Laboratory, which performs water sampling of the Mississippi Gulf Coast beaches for MDEQ, notifies the agency when an area returns to acceptable levels and safe conditions.
