MDEQ LIFTS TWO BEACH ADVISORIES
ONE REMAINS IN EFFECT

(JACKSON, Miss.)
-- The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, has lifted two advisories previously issued April 8 for the following stations:

● Station 10 – U.S. Naval Home/Veterans Hospital near Oak Avenue in Gulfport -- from Alfonso Drive eastward to the VA Main Entrance;

● Statuon 10A -- near Courthouse Road west parking lot, Gulfport -- from the VA Main Entrance eastward to Courthouse Road.

Water samples show the areas have attained acceptable bacteria levels. The Gulf Coast Research Laboratory, which performs water sampling of the Mississippi Gulf Coast beaches for MDEQ, notifies the agency when an area returns to acceptable levels and safe conditions.

One beach advisory remains in effect:

Station 5 will stay on advisory until a second sample confirms reduced bacteria levels at that location.
