MEMA launches new emergency website
PEARL – The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency announces the launch of a new website specifically for emergency and ongoing disaster information.
The new website is located at http://www.MSDisasterInfo.com. A link to the site is also on MEMA’s website, http://www.msema.org.
Governor Haley Barbour suggested that a “one stop shop” website be created to help Mississippi residents with disaster assistance. The governor was concerned at the amount of information regarding disaster assistance and how it is spread out all over the Internet.
“This website was created to assist disaster survivors with finding out what assistance that is available to them,” MEMA Executive Director Mike Womack said. “We want to make finding disaster assistance easier.”
MSDisasterInfo.com features updated road closures, open shelters, disaster-related news and information as well as information about how people can donate or help disaster survivors.
Links to responding state and federal government agencies, as well as some nonprofit organizations are also included on the website.
