MDEQ LIFTS ADVISORY FOR PORTION OF BACK BAY BILOXI

(JACKSON, Miss.) -- The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality
(MDEQ) Friday lifted a temporary water contact advisory issued on July 3
for the portion of the unnamed bayou in the Oaks Subdivision from Rustwood
Drive downstream to Back Bay Biloxi near Cedar Point, and to Back Bay
Biloxi from Causeway Drive to Brasher Bayou.

Since July 3, MDEQ staff has sampled the water several times and have
determined that bacteria concentrations are at background levels, and
people may resume water recreation and consumption of fish and seafood
caught in the area.

The advisory was prompted due to a sewage leak in a force main line near
Rustwood Drive.
