                        MDEQ LIFTS BEACH ADVISORY

(JACKSON, Miss.) -- The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality
(MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, has lifted an advisory
previously issued March 10 for the following station:

● Station 11 ? near Cowan/Lorraine Road in Gulfport -- from Teagarden Road
                      eastward to Anniston Avenue.

Water samples show the area has attained acceptable bacteria levels.
Swimmers are reminded that the Beach Task Force has a standing
recommendation that swimming not occur during or within 24 hours of a
significant rainfall event.

The Gulf Coast Research Laboratory, which performs water sampling of the
Mississippi Gulf Coast beaches for MDEQ, notifies the agency when an area
returns to acceptable levels and safe conditions.
