HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE DAY FOR STORM WASTES AT EAGLE LAKE
(JACKSON, Miss.) -- The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) and Warren County announced that a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection day will be held for Eagle Lake residents in Warren County at Simmon's Gin on Eagle Lake Road on Saturday, May 8 from 8:00 to 4:00.
HHW wastes include household chemical items, electronic wastes, and large bulky household appliances. The wastes eligible for the HHW collection services are as follows:
• HHW includes household chemicals, cleaners, insecticides and herbicides, pool chemicals, used oil, gasoline, automotive batteries, paints, thinner, varnish, thermostats, lighting ballasts and other similar items.
• Electronic waste includes televisions, computer systems, stereo systems, cell phones and other similar wastes damaged in the storm.
• Large bulky household appliances also known as white goods include refrigerators, washers, dryers, stoves, dishwashers, hot water heaters and other similar large metal appliances.
The HHW site operations will be conducted by Complete Environmental and Remediation Company.
Residents that are unable to participate in the Eagle Lake HHW collection event may participate in Warren County's upcoming scheduled HHW event in Vicksburg on Saturday, June, 26, 2010.
