MDEQ AWARDS $15,000 WASTE TIRE GRANT TO CLARKE COUNTY

(Jackson, Miss.) --The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) has awarded Clarke County a $15,000 waste tire grant to continue the waste tire collection program for small quantity generators of waste tires.

“We are pleased this grant will assist the county’s efforts to improve their management of waste tires,” said Trudy Fisher, MDEQ Executive Director.

Funding for waste tire grants is provided by a waste tire account funded from a fee charged on the wholesale sale of every new motor vehicle tire sold in Mississippi. This fee provides the funds to ensure and encourage the proper management and disposal of waste tires in the state.

MDEQ AWARDS $174,654 WASTE TIRE GRANT TO PINE BELT SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

(Jackson, Miss.) --The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) has awarded the Pine Belt Solid Waste Management Authority a $174,654 waste tire grant to continue the waste tire collection program for small quantity generators of waste tires in Covington, Jones, and Perry County as well as the cities of Hattiesburg and Laurel.

“We are pleased this grant will assist the Authority’s efforts to improve their management of waste tires,” said Trudy Fisher, MDEQ Executive Director.
