MDEQ Lifts Water Contact Advisory For Another Location
(JACKSON, Miss.) -- The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, has lifted one water contact advisory that was issued February 22 for the following beach monitoring station:
●Station 1 – Lakeshore -- from the Sliver Slipper Casino east to the jetty west of Poinset Avenue.
This station’s advisory was also lifted March 5:
● Station 10 -- Gulfport Central -- from Alfonso Drive east to the old VA entrance.
Water samples at these stations show the areas have attained acceptable bacteria levels. The Gulf Coast Research Laboratory, which performs water sampling of the Mississippi Gulf Coast beaches for MDEQ, notifies the agency when an area returns to acceptable levels and safe conditions.
