MDEQ ACCEPTS THREE NORTHROP GRUMMAN FACILITIES INTO enHANCE PROGRAM

(Jackson, Miss.) – The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality
(MDEQ) recently accepted three Northrop Grumman facilities into its enHance
program.  Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding in Gulfport, Northrop Grumman
Electronic Systems in Ocean Springs, and Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding in
Pascagoula were all accepted at the  Steward level.  enHance is a voluntary
stewardship program that recognizes committed environmental leaders who
accomplish goals beyond their legal requirements.  enHance is open to
facilities, cities, counties, and other entities who are interested in the
program, and applicants can choose from three tiers:  Associate, Steward,
or Leader.

“We are pleased that three separate Northrop Grumman facilities have joined
the enHance program, and they should be commended for their commitment to
doing good work and their leadership in achieving standards beyond their
environmental permit requirements,” said Trudy Fisher, MDEQ Executive
Director.

"Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems and Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding are
honored to be among the elite companies who are putting their best foot
forward in the area of environmental quality. Along with other companies
nationwide who are moving towards ISO 14001 certification, membership in
enHance is just one of many steps that we will be taking in the next few
months to confirm our commitment to our environment.”

According to Richard Schmidt, site director for Electronic Systems in Ocean
Springs, “In addition to the numerous environmental projects we are
currently involved in, our employees will take the lead in an Environmental
Awareness project for the benefit of our entire community in the coming
weeks.”  Kevin Amis, operations vice president of Northrop Grumman’s
Shipbuilding sector agreed, stating, “We already have a number of active
‘green’ initiatives in the works. We, too, look forward to making an impact
throughout our community, and enHance is a great place to start.”

The enHance 2010 class includes three Leaders:  Caterpillar High
Performance Extrusions (Oxford), Naval Construction Battalion Center (NCBC)
(Gulfport), and Southern Natural Gas - Pickens Station (Pickens).  Five
Stewards were selected:  Columbus Brick (Columbus), Leaf River Cellulose,
LLC (New Augusta), Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding (Gulfport), Northrop
Grumman Electronic Systems (Ocean Springs), and Northrop Grumman
Shipbuilding (Pascagoula).  The three Associate members are:  Choctaw Gas
Generation (Ackerman), GDF SUEZ Red Hills Power Plant (Ackerman), and Gulf
States Manufacturers - a Nucor Company (Starkville).
